How Long Does a Kitchen Facelift Take? A Realistic Timeline

A kitchen facelift is one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to transform your space without undergoing a full renovation. At Better Kitchen Facelifts (BKF), we specialise in delivering high-quality kitchen makeovers that breathe new life into your home while minimising disruption. But how long does the process take? In this guide, we’ll break down the typical timeline of a kitchen facelift so you know what to expect every step of the way.

Step 1: Site Preparation and Removal (1 Day)

When we start installation, we carefully prepare your kitchen by removing old doors, benchtops, and any other components being replaced. This step is usually completed within the first day, ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase without unnecessary delays.

Step 2: Installation of New Kitchen Components (2-3 Days)

This is where your kitchen facelift truly comes to life. Our experienced installation team at BKF fits new doors, panels, cabinets, and hardware, transforming your space with minimal disruption. Depending on the complexity of the project, installation generally takes 2-3 days.

Step 3: Benchtop Installation

The benchtop installation process begins. The timeline for this step depends on whether you choose a laminate or stone benchtop:

  • Laminate Benchtops: These can be measured before installation, allowing them to be installed at the same time as your cabinets, doors, and panels. This keeps the timeline more condensed and efficient.
  • Stone Benchtops: These must be measured only after the cabinets and panels are installed. Once measured, there is a 10-working-day turnaround for fabrication before they can be installed.

The benchtop installation plays a crucial role in determining the overall project duration, as splashbacks and appliances cannot be installed until the benchtop is in place.

Step 4: Installation of Splashbacks (1 Day for Tiles or Aluminium)

Once the benchtop is securely in place, the splashback installation follows. This is typically a one-day process, ensuring that your kitchen achieves a polished and seamless finish. Whether you opt for glass, tile, or Aluminium, our team at BKF ensures a precise and professional installation.

Step 5: Finishing Touches and Final Inspection (1 Day)

After installation, we complete any necessary adjustments, ensure all elements are aligned, and apply finishing touches. This includes cleaning up the workspace, checking that all components function correctly, and conducting a final quality inspection. This final stage typically takes 1 day.

Total Timeline: 1-3 Weeks

The actual time we spend in your home is 3-5 days, but depending on your benchtop choice, this may be spread over 1 to 3 weeks.

  • If you choose a laminate benchtop, the process is more streamlined, with all major work completed in one go.
  • If you choose a stone benchtop, additional time is required for measurement, fabrication, and final installation, extending the total duration.

Why Choose a Kitchen Facelift Over a Full Renovation?

One of the biggest advantages of a kitchen facelift is the significantly shorter turnaround time compared to a full kitchen renovation, which can take several months. With a facelift, you get a fresh, modern look without the hassle of major structural changes or extended downtime.
